Go Vote! A public service project with the goal of being interactive and nonpartisan while promoting active citizenship and voting.

University of Kansas, November 2012.

Venturing across University of Kansas campus over two days with a push cart and a supplies of ink, stamps and postcards, I greeted people on campus seeking to spark a conversation on the role of voting.

Patrons were given a postcard describing the importance of voting on one side, an image of eagle and flag with overlaid text printed letterpress. The back of the postcard was up to each participants interpretation making each postcard a unique collaboration.

Patrons could chose from a selection of over 60 hand-carved stamps to customize their postcards based on the issues most important to them.

This project was designed to create an open dialogue about civil engagement and issues surrounding the 2012 election, in a safe and unbiased methodology.

A goal of the project was also to encourage voting, the simplest and most direct mode of civil engagement, and thus every patron further received a sticker declaring their pledge to vote.

Printmaking was the the perfect medium for this project with its long history as the democratic medium, relationship to protest art, as well as its inherent purpose as a means for reproduction.

"This is like finger painting with our rights!"
