Pochoir: Stencil Prints

Pochoir is the french word for stencil and refers specifically to a refined, hand-applied printmaking technique that was popularized in the Art Deco era. Artists from Picasso to Matisse have used this process of creating stencils to build up layered imagery. The straightforward nature of the process and no need for fancy press or equipment make it a perfect printmaking technique to do at home with minimal materials.

Participants in this workshop will create a variety of stencils to make editionable small prints and / or mix and match layered imagery for unique mononprints.
